Editable output

What the free PDF to Word converter online keeps.

The conversion targets editable Word content while being honest about the places where PDF and DOCX layout models differ.

  1. 01

    Editable text output

The converter creates real Word paragraphs from detected PDF text instead of placing every page inside Word as one flat screenshot.

  2. 02

    Detected tables rebuilt

When the source PDF exposes a clear table structure, rows and columns are rebuilt as editable Word tables that can be selected and changed.

  3. 03

    Images carried into DOCX

Detected images are included alongside the editable text. Image position can vary when a PDF uses complex clipping, overlays, or unusual page geometry.

  4. 04

    No account or email step

Choose the PDF, start conversion, and download the result without creating an InpaintingAI account or entering an email address.

  5. 05

    Temporary conversion files removed

The server uses a temporary working directory for the conversion request and removes that working directory when the request finishes.

Three steps

How to convert PDF to Word online.

The conversion path stays clear while leaving room for a final document review.

  1. 01

    Choose one PDF

Upload a PDF up to 20 MB. Image-only scans are not OCR-enabled in this version, so selectable source text produces the best result.

  2. 02

    Convert the document

The converter analyzes page text, images, tables, and layout, then builds an editable .docx file.

  3. 03

    Download and review

Open the DOCX in Microsoft Word, Google Docs, or LibreOffice and check tables, line breaks, images, and page breaks.

Common conversion jobs

When an editable DOCX is the better next step.

Use conversion for continued writing and collaboration, then review the new document against its source PDF.

  1. 01

Continue editing a report in Word

Convert a text-based report, statement, proposal, or form when the next step requires paragraph edits, comments, tracked revisions, or new Word content. The DOCX output gives you editable building blocks instead of one page-sized image.

  2. 02

Recover useful tables from a PDF

Use the converter when copying a table cell by cell would be slower than rebuilding it. Clear rows and columns can become editable Word tables, while merged cells and borderless financial layouts should be checked after download.

  3. 03

Move content into a collaborative workflow

Create a DOCX when teammates need to review the document in Microsoft Word, Google Docs, or LibreOffice. Confirm page breaks, fonts, image placement, and signatures before treating the converted file as a finished deliverable.

Before converting

PDF to Word FAQs.

Know what happens to text, tables, images, scanned pages, and digital signatures before creating the DOCX.

Is this a free PDF to Word converter online?

Yes. The current converter does not require an account, email address, credit card, or paid plan for a PDF up to 20 MB.

Will the Word document be editable?

Detected text becomes Word paragraphs and detected tables become Word tables. The output is intended for editing rather than being one full-page image.

Does the converter preserve formatting exactly?

It aims to preserve text, tables, images, and page layout, but PDF and Word use different layout models. Complex pages can require minor spacing, font, or page-break adjustments.

Can it convert a scanned PDF with OCR?

Not yet. An image-only scanned PDF does not contain an editable text layer, and this converter currently does not run OCR. Native or already-OCRed PDFs work better.

What happens to PDF tables?

Clear table regions can be rebuilt as editable Word tables. Merged cells, borderless tables, dense statements, and overlapping graphics may need manual cleanup.

Can I use the converter on a phone?

The upload page is responsive, but conversion availability depends on the deployed server runtime. Reviewing a complex DOCX is usually easier in a desktop Word application.

What is the file-size limit?

The current limit is 20 MB per PDF. The server also stops conversions that exceed its processing-time limit and returns a clear error instead of a partial document.

Does conversion keep a valid digital signature?

No. A DOCX is a new document and cannot retain the original PDF digital signature as a valid signature. Keep the signed source PDF for verification.
