A smaller tool for a very common moment

InpaintingAI is an independent photo-editing project created for people who have one specific problem with an otherwise good picture. A stranger walked through the background. A sign distracts from the subject. A product photo has a cable in the corner. Professional editors can solve these problems, but their layers, selection modes, and panels ask users to learn a system before fixing a photo. We wanted the action to match the intention: point at the area, say what should happen, and inspect the result.

Our small product studio combines web engineering, interface design, and applied image-generation research. We test the service as ordinary users would: on a phone and a laptop, with imperfect photos, imprecise brushes, and plain-language descriptions. InpaintingAI is not a replacement for a professional retoucher. It is a focused route through the most useful part of modern generative editing.

Why browser-first matters

People should not need to install a large app or create an account simply to learn whether a tool can help. The editor therefore starts in the browser, compresses large uploads before they are sent for processing, and makes the selection visible at every step. The Before/After view exists because an AI result should be reviewed, not blindly accepted. When the AI provider is unavailable, the product says so instead of pretending a result came from a model.

Our design language also avoids technical vocabulary wherever an ordinary phrase is clearer. “Paint the area” replaces “create a mask.” “Describe what belongs” replaces “write an inpainting prompt.” This is not cosmetic simplification; it is the product promise. Useful AI should meet people at the task they already understand.

What we are responsible for

Trust is built through boundaries. Users retain ownership of their uploaded images and results. We explain which third-party services may process a file, disclose that generated edits can be imperfect, and provide a direct route for privacy requests and support. We will continue to improve result quality, mobile ergonomics, accessibility, and transparency before adding complexity.

InpaintingAI is early, and that gives us a useful constraint: every feature must make one-photo editing faster or more understandable. If something is confusing, fails on your device, or needs a clearer explanation, we want to hear about it.
