Why watermarks are harder than captions

An opaque caption often covers a small, flat area. A watermark may be translucent, letting altered background texture show through; it may repeat across the frame or cross a face, product, and background at once. 6. Inspect the result at 100% zoom. Look for fragments, blur, repeated texture, bent lines, and invented subject detail.

Watermark types and how to handle each

Semi-transparent corner watermark

Usually the most manageable case. Include the full translucent footprint, not only the darkest logo strokes, and check for a low-contrast halo after generation.

Tiled or repeated watermark

Remove a few marks at a time. A mask covering most of the image leaves too little original context and increases the risk of repeated or invented texture.

Watermark crossing the subject

This is the hardest case. When a mark crosses a face, label, logo, or unique product feature, use the licensed original. AI cannot guarantee factual reconstruction of hidden detail.

When watermark removal fails

Failure is most likely when an opaque mark covers a large portion of a low-resolution image, crosses unique detail, or spans several materials with different edges and lighting. A result can look plausible at phone size while containing distorted eyes, text, logos, or product geometry at full resolution.

Return to the untouched source and change the mask rather than repeatedly editing generated pixels. If you do not have permission or the reconstruction changes material details, stop and obtain the proper source file.
